At Takaka's Gala Day in December 2005, Bag Ladies Hazel Pearson and Victoria Davis operated the great Bag Exchange - exchanging a new cloth bag for anyone's plastic shopping bag, spotted in the street.

Fair exchange is no robbery, and shoppers were delighted with their sturdy new re-usable shopping bag.
