A group of 3 conservation-minded teenagers in Nelson have formed under the name - The Green Teens.  The trio estimate that Nelsonians go through 440,000 plastic shopping bag PER WEEK - and are campaigning to reduce this waste of resources.

They have asked a number of artists and celebrities to create artworks on reusable shopping bags - to encourage kiwis to swap plastic bags for reusable ones.

The bags were displayed in Nelson during December at the Zest Cafe, and the girls have organised for the bags to be exhibited at Te Papa during January 2007.
